Today is the first day of fall and I am so freaking excited about my Fall TBR list! I am a huge seasonal kind of reader. I love getting in the spirit of the season and I always gravitate to more intense/Halloweenie novels during the fall season! Now I am enjoying my pumpkin spice latte in typical fall fashion and organizing my fall bookshelf!
I have to say that I am a total cliché when it comes to fall! Now since I live in Miami we don’t really experience fall much at ALL but I still get myself in the spirit of the season! I love whipping out all my fall outfits (Minus the sweaters in Miami weather), getting my house all decorated for Halloween, and ordering my pumpkin spice lattes!
By the way, did you hear that they now have a pumpkin spice chai latte in Starbucks?! SAY WHAT?!
So get your pumpkin spice latte ready and let’s dig into some of my Fall TBR reads!
Turtles All the Way Down by John Green
This book is a given since I am a huuuge John Green fan and he is the one of the first authors to open me up to the world of YA again! I will never forget reading The Fault in Our Stars! Read my book review about it here. I already purchased my advance copy at Barnes and Noble because if you purchase it in advance you can actually get a signed copy of the upcoming John Green book! I don’t know about you but I think John Green is like one of the kings of YA and getting my book signed by John Green would be nothing but an absolute honor! I am truly excited to get my book in the mail! The book is released on October 10th!
They Both Die at the End by Adam Silvera
The reason why I am soooo freaking excited to read this book is that I am in love with the concept of this book! The synopsis is so original and I love how the message of the book is to live your life to the fullest because you never know when your last day will be! I have heard only amazing things about Silver’s unique writing style! I find the whole premise of the book intriguing and I am excited that this will be my first Adam Silvera book! I have a feeling that I am going to need a box of tissues nearby!
There’s Someone Inside Your House by Stephanie Perkins
Stephanie Perkin’s writing is like crack to me and I need this book in my life now! She is the contemporary YA queen and I adooored her book Anna and the French Kiss. I wrote a book review about the Anna and the French Kiss here. Normally she writes adorable contemporary romance books and I love how she is taking a different direction in her writing! This book is a teen slasher kind of story and I grew up watching movies like Scream so this is going to be right up my alley! The release date is September 26th!
Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell
I know…I know…what’s wrong with me?! Why haven’t I read this book yet?! I did read Eleanor and Park though and I have to say I wasn’t really feeling it! I didn’t really connect well with the character Eleanor but the story was entertaining and the writing was impeccable! I wish I started reading Fangirl instead but I am super excited to finally read this book!
Carry On by Rainbow Rowell
Now in order to fully appreciate this novel I have to read Fangirl first since it’s based on the same fanfiction story! I love how this book is a spin on Harry Potter and it looks like the perfect Halloween book to snuggle up in at night with a cup of tea!
Doll Bones by Holly Black
I have always wanted to read Holly Black and her novels and I never got around to reading any of them! This middle-grade novel looks super spooky and I have always been fascinated with haunted doll stories since watching an episode about it on Are You Afraid of the Dark! I don’t know about you but that episode freaked me the hell out back in the day!
(I got super curious and looked up the episode and you can find it here!)
A Court of Thrones and Roses by Sarah J. Maas
Don’t judge me! This book should have been on the top of my TBR a looong time ago! Usually, I get a little intimidated by trilogies and procrastinate on them as long as possible especially when it is fantasy related! My comfort zone is mostly contemporary reads and I need to get out of that comfort zone and immerse myself in the world of Sarah J. Maas! There is such a massive following for Mrs. Sarah J. Maas and I want to hop on the Sarah J. Maas train already!
Moxie by Jennifer Mathieu
When I read the synopsis of this book I almost fell off my chair! I just found out about this book yesterday and I haven’t stopped thinking about the book since then! This will definitely be my first fall read of the fall season! How can you not want to read a book about a girl who takes action against her high school and creates a feminist zine?! I have never heard of a YA feminist-themed book and it is so refreshing to have a book like this in the scary society that we live in now! Feminist topics are what I have gravitated to since I was in high school and I am so fangirling about this book that I haven’t even read yet!
This is the end of my Fall TBR! Cross your fingers for me that I finish reading these books during the fall! I am also trying to find a good witchy kind of YA read! Does anyone have any suggestions? I already read How to Hang a Witch and it was a good solid novel. I am looking for something like How to Hang a Witch. Comment below and help me find a witchy read and please tell me what is in your fall TBR?!
Happy Fall Reading!
