Magical Three Monday Reads: Winter Bluesies

February 4, 2019

Monday’s are usually less than magical for me but I decided to start this post to add a bit of magic to my Monday and your Monday as well! There are so many books out there that have added so much comfort in my life and I think comfort is what we all need on difficult Mondays!

1…Girl Goddess #9

I have read this book multiple times as a teenager and I have made a promise to myself this year that I would begin rereading books again instead of giving in to all the hype of recently released books.  Goddess #9 is the perfect book to add some serious magic to my Monday! Lately, I have been experiencing a bit of the winter blues and Francesca Lia Block is the kind of author that brings me comfort through difficult times. These stories are stories of empowerment for girls and they are stories that teach girls that we can all find the magic within ourselves.

2…Dear Martin

I am picking this book to read in honor of Black History Month and for the March book event that I will be attending March 2nd which is called BAM! – A Festival of Books * Art * Music! The author Nic Stone will be attending this event! I met Stone in the Miami Book Fair and never got around to reading her books! I have just checked out this book to listen to on audio through my library and I have heard so many stellar reviews on this book! Not to mention, it doesn’t hurt that this book is only about four and a half hours long on audio!

3…Stranger the Dreamer

Laini Taylor will also be in the BAM book festival and I am seriously scared about reading this book because I read a short story from the short story holiday anthology My True Love Gave to Me and I wasn’t thrilled with it! Actually, the story bored me to tears and I was completely confused with it. The worst thing about it is that it was a short story and I wanted the story to be over that quickly. I am going to give this book a chance since she will be in the book festival and if this book doesn’t work out I will look into reading her previous trilogy series Daughter of Smoke and Bone. I have heard that her books are high fantasy and I am not much of a fantasy reader so I am going to cross my fingers that this will be a good reading experience for me!

If you want to help yourself and others get rid of the Manic Monday blues you are officially tagged to participate in this book tag!

Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Books I Could Re-Read Forever

March 6, 2018

Top Ten Tuesday is a feature hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl and I found out about this post originally from Reading Every Night! The title  of this post speaks for itself! Below I am going to list the top ten books that I could re-read forever! Now with BookTube, Goodreads, and all the countless book options, we have at our disposal it’s become a bit difficult for me to reread books but this is something I would love to do more often this year! There is so much pressure to read all the books that are coming out that we lose sight of the books that we truly love! Here are all the top ten books that I could reread and have brought so much happiness to my life!

The Night Circus

I have a hard time describing this book! This book was absolutely magical but it was the kind of magic that is mysterious, terrifying, and intriguing all at the same time! The Night Circus is the kind of book that you have to take your time with and it’s not the kind of story that is fast-paced. The prose and the story itself will slowly pull you into the world of the circus and you won’t want to pull away long after your done reading it.

The Lovely Bones

I remember reading this book when I was about 18 years old and I literally couldn’t put it down. I was on a beach vacation and I was absolutely sucked into the world of this book! This story broke my heart in some many ways and it’s one of the books I will never forget.

To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before

I ADORED THIS BOOK! Lara Jean is my spirit animal! Read my review here.

Moxie

Every girl in the world needs to read this book! Such an inspiring and kick-ass book! Read my review here.

Like Water for Chocolate

This was my first literary magical realism book and it is the reason why magical realism is my favorite genre! The language of this book is absolutely beautiful and it will also make you hungry after you read this book too. There are actual recipes inspired by this book. Read it now and make sure to read it with Tita’s Christmas Rolls!

The Strange and Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender

Luminous and inspiring! The magic of her words is just heart-stopping! This book is an absolute beauty in every sense of the word. Also, I want to add how excited I am for her upcoming book The Price Guide to the Occult! Leslye Walton took a minute to write her next book and I am sooo excited because it’s a book about witches and if you know me I am obsessed with anything having to do with witches!

Since You’ve Been Gone

Morgan Matson is my homegirl! See why here.

Paper Towns

I read this book over the summer and it was an absolute delight! John Green cannot disappoint! He is pretty much the king of the YA genre! After I finished reading this book the only thing that I was disappointed about was that it ended. I loved the adventure and the cat and mouse chase of the book! Read this book if you have ever daydreamed about having an Orlando theme park to yourself because it actually happens in this book!

Weetzie Bat

I have reread this magical realism book maybe 20 times in my lifetime! This is my favorite book in the whole entire world and it’s the one book that changed my life, opened up my world, and brought so much light to my life! This is the book that I read when life is just not going my way and it is the book that I read when I need some inspiration.

Love Letters to the Dead

This book killed me in so many ways! The prose of this book is so freaking beautiful and heartbreaking! This book will touch your soul! It was one of the few books where I was crying tears of happiness from the beginning to the end!
