The Bookish Fairy

Young adult, magical realism, and every book in between infused with fairy dust...

Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Books I Could Re-Read Forever

March 6, 2018

Top Ten Tuesday is a feature hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl and I found out about this post originally from Reading Every Night! The title  of this post speaks for itself! Below I am going to list the top ten books that I could re-read forever! Now with BookTube, Goodreads, and all the countless book options, we have at our disposal it’s become a bit difficult for me to reread books but this is something I would love to do more often this year! There is so much pressure to read all the books that are coming out that we lose sight of the books that we truly love! Here are all the top ten books that I could reread and have brought so much happiness to my life!

The Night Circus

I have a hard time describing this book! This book was absolutely magical but it was the kind of magic that is mysterious, terrifying, and intriguing all at the same time! The Night Circus is the kind of book that you have to take your time with and it’s not the kind of story that is fast-paced. The prose and the story itself will slowly pull you into the world of the circus and you won’t want to pull away long after your done reading it.

The Lovely Bones

I remember reading this book when I was about 18 years old and I literally couldn’t put it down. I was on a beach vacation and I was absolutely sucked into the world of this book! This story broke my heart in some many ways and it’s one of the books I will never forget.

To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before

I ADORED THIS BOOK! Lara Jean is my spirit animal! Read my review here.

Moxie

Every girl in the world needs to read this book! Such an inspiring and kick-ass book! Read my review here.

Like Water for Chocolate

This was my first literary magical realism book and it is the reason why magical realism is my favorite genre! The language of this book is absolutely beautiful and it will also make you hungry after you read this book too. There are actual recipes inspired by this book. Read it now and make sure to read it with Tita’s Christmas Rolls!

The Strange and Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender

Luminous and inspiring! The magic of her words is just heart-stopping! This book is an absolute beauty in every sense of the word. Also, I want to add how excited I am for her upcoming book The Price Guide to the Occult! Leslye Walton took a minute to write her next book and I am sooo excited because it’s a book about witches and if you know me I am obsessed with anything having to do with witches!

Since You’ve Been Gone

Morgan Matson is my homegirl! See why here.

Paper Towns

I read this book over the summer and it was an absolute delight! John Green cannot disappoint! He is pretty much the king of the YA genre! After I finished reading this book the only thing that I was disappointed about was that it ended. I loved the adventure and the cat and mouse chase of the book! Read this book if you have ever daydreamed about having an Orlando theme park to yourself because it actually happens in this book!

Weetzie Bat

I have reread this magical realism book maybe 20 times in my lifetime! This is my favorite book in the whole entire world and it’s the one book that changed my life, opened up my world, and brought so much light to my life! This is the book that I read when life is just not going my way and it is the book that I read when I need some inspiration.

Love Letters to the Dead

This book killed me in so many ways! The prose of this book is so freaking beautiful and heartbreaking! This book will touch your soul! It was one of the few books where I was crying tears of happiness from the beginning to the end!

Birthday Tag

January 29, 2018

Hi, cool book people! So my birthday was about 28 days ago! January 1st! I just turned 34 this month and I am slowly dying inside! One year until my mid 30’s and I will be crying into my pillow! I know 34 is not a big deal but lately, for the past couple of years, I have been getting super emo on my birthday!

So on to my birthday book tag! This book tag was created by @Always Books and I first found out about the birthday tag through @The Bookish Secret!

The Birthday Cake

A book with a plot that seems cliche but you adored it anyway.

Adored everything about this book and don’t get me started on one of my book boyfriends Etienne St. Clair! Ohlala! Read my book review about it here.

Party Guest

Your most anticipated release for the year.

If anyone knows me or has read my blog you know that I am a sucker for a Morgan Matson book! When I saw this book I literally squealed with delight and scared my cat in the process but it was all worth it! My book is already pre-ordered and I am counting down the days until June 5th!

Birthday Presents

A book that surprised you with how much you loved it.

A very dear friend of mine gave me this book about six years ago. At the time I was going through a very difficult time in my life and I just didn’t have the energy to read it then. But then two years later I finally picked it up and I was completely dazzled by this world! I had no idea I was going to be completely enthralled with this book! The world building that Morgenstern creates to describe the Night Circus is unbelievable! There are no words to describe this book! This is the kind of book you have to read and experience for yourself! I am eagerly anticipating Erin Morgenstern’s next book!

 “Happy Birthday” Song

A book that deserved all the hype it got.

This book was insta-love for me the moment I laid eyes on the book cover! I started hearing about this in the booktube world shortly after I purchased it and I couldn’t wait to delve into it! From the moment I read the first page, I was in love! I mean come on! How can you not resist a geeky version of Cinderella and a Magic Pumpkin food truck?! This book screams adorkable! Read my review here.

Happy Music

A book with some very beautiful and truly memorable quotes.

Ava Dellaira words touched my soul and it was one of the very few books that brought me tears of happiness! The multitude of sticky notes that I had for this book was insane! There are so many quotes in this book that felt so relatable in so many ways and it’s the kind of book that I wish was published when I was in high school! Dellaira words are the epitome of beauty and truth and I am also dying for her next book!

Getting Older

A book you read a long time ago, but you think you would have appreciated it more if you read it as a more mature reader.

When I first read this book I was in the 10th grade and I remember being very intrigued by the stories that were told about Esperanza and her family. When I first read it, I hadn’t discovered my love for magical realism and I believe that there were many parts of this book that just went over my head at the time. I would love to experience and reread this book again!

Sweet Birthday Memories

A book that kept you incredibly happy during a sad or demanding period of your life.

Weetzie Bat is the book that changed my life and made me the person that I am today. Block is the reason why I love magical realism. When I first cracked open this book I didn’t expect that it was going to have such a profound impact on me. I was a sixteen-year-old teenager who was lost, misunderstood, and trying to figure out what I wanted in my life. I felt all those typical angsty teenage feelings of not feeling like I belonged anywhere and this book made me feel like I was going to be ok! Block’s poetic words made me feel so deliriously happy and taught me that there is beauty everywhere you go.

End of book tag!

Anybody that wants to do this book tag can totally do this!

I would love to hear your responses to this birthday book tag! Comment below!
